Exploring Green Roofs as Urban Hotspots for insects
Green roofs are vegetated roofs that form a new habitat in our urban landscape. In this project, PhD student Eva Drukker aims to unravel how insects reach and settle on green roofs. To investigate this, green roofs as well as green areas in the surroundings of these roofs need to be sampled for diversity. A selection of green roofs has been made in Amsterdam and, if money can be generated, green roofs will be also newly created and studied in Wageningen. We will compare the community composition between green roofs and ground level habitats, as well as conduct diversity assessments.
